Episode Description

The buzz: “We are headed for a world that will have 24 billion IoT devices by 2020” (Andrew Meola, 12/19/16) To bolster personal safety and business security, we are cheering on the Internet of Things which gives us connected devices, integrated systems and services, and smart homes. Consider the ubiquity of cameras, overt and hidden: vehicle cams and wearable cams for law enforcement, hidden cams to catch bad behaviors at home and work. But ironically, these IoT advances also make us and our personal information vulnerable to prying eyes and ears, and cyberattacks. Will IoT help make the world safer or just more complicated – and what price will we ultimately pay? The experts speak. Ravi Condamoor: “If you reveal your secrets to the wind, you should not blame the wind for revealing them to the trees” (Kahlil Gibran). Adam Mardini, SAP: “At the end of the day, the goals are simple: safety and security” (Jodi Rell). Join us for IoT: Game-Changing Our Security, For Good or Bad?
