Episode Description
Brigitte Jia and Katie Choo know first hand about animal shelters, wildlife rescue centers, medical labs, and veterinary clinics. Brigitte worked at animal shelters both in Berkeley,California and Nashville, Tennessee and is able to compare the differences in how animals are treated. She also works with mice in a hospital training laboratory where she has gained a deep respect for the value that lab animals provide for human health and medical breakthroughs. Katie is studying animal behavior, evolution, and science in Texas and is working in veterinary hospitals, a wildlife rescue center, as well as animal shelters. She explains the difference between the human interactions in each of the settings. Brigitte reads Cynthia Brian’s chapter, The Gift of Farming, from the book, Be the Star You Are! Millennials to Boomers Celebrating Gifts of Positive Voices in a Changing Digital World, providing more insight into the world of farming and caring for all creatures great and small.

Broadcasting since 2011, twenty-seven young people from around the United States have regularly shared their passions and interests as hosts and reporters on Express Yourself! These teens are not afraid of the tough topics and thrill at the opportunity of interviewing a variety of guests including authors, actors, Olympians, scientists, musicians, poets, and experts of varied disciplines.
