Episode Description
Our bosses have enormous influence over our ability to succeed, thrive, and advance in our organizations, in our careers and in our own leadership journey. Establishing strong, productive working relationships with those above us is the single most effective way to accelerate success in any organization. Managing up is not about brown nosing, sucking up, or becoming a sycophant. It is about consciously and deliberatively developing and maintaining effective relationships with supervisors, bosses, and other people above you in the chain of command. It is a deliberate effort to increase cooperation and collaboration in a relationship between individuals who often have different perspectives and uneven power levels. It is about is consciously working with your boss to obtain the best possible results. Managing up is about you taking charge of your workplace experience. Managing Up is about helping people succeed with the boss that they actually have--not the boss they wish they had.

With a slant towards servant leadership, Tom interviews contemporary authors to drill down on topics such as long-distance leadership, resilience, clarity, culture, developing others, individual behavior, persuasion, managing up, spiritual best practices, character, values, trust and more.
