“I never dreamed about success. I worked for it.” Estee Lauder Advocacy: any action that speaks in favor of, recommends, argues for a cause, supports or defends, or pleads on behalf of others. It’s encouraging when a man starts the conversation advocating for the rights and freedoms of women. Hosts Rose and Hannah, both female empowerment activists, interview Nihal who firmly believes that women should have equal rights to men in all areas of private and public life, including education, employment, and political participation. He donates money to a family in India to send a girl to school. Hannah puts women’s advocacy into context and offers methods to speak up and support women. She launched her own charitable organization, Hannah’s Project, which is dedicated to the empowerment, education, and equality of women through education and literacy. Rose was inspired by many courageous women including Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Tarana Burke, and Masha Amini and offers a background on the movements formed around their advocacy.. Sharanya joins the conversation with a tribute to literary pioneers in feminism, Virginia Woolf and Sylvia Plath. She also sheds light on the horrific lobotomies that were performed on “hysterical” women, such as Rosemary Kennedy. Women and men are equals. Hosted by teens and teenage field reporters from around the country, Express Yourself! is THE destination for teens to be heard. Within the walls of the young adult community, listeners are uplifted and encouraged to be the stars of your own life. Through collaboration and conversation, a global campus of young people express their views. Topics include anything that kids talk about-books, music, making a difference, technology, school, art, humor, writing, tough talks, health, sports, films, family, friends, foes, fashion, and fun. Broadcasting since 2011, twenty-seven young people from around the United States have regularly shared their passions and interests as hosts and reporters on Express Yourself!
