Episode Description

Tune in for the first episode in New Legacy Radio's History series! People without children have always existed, and as our demographic grows, it is important to see ourselves reflected throughout history, and to recognize the valued lives and contributions of those who never had children. As our community becomes more visible, thanks to activists, writers, filmmakers, and others, we have an opportunity to celebrate the lives and influences of our community, past and present. On today's show, we will also celebrate the publication of Laura Carroll's new book, "A Special Sisterhood: 100 Fascinating Women From History Who Never Had Children", which is out today! This brilliant book includes brief narratives and illustrations of women from history, who never had children, including a profile from 350 AD! Join us as we delve into the meaningful impact these women have had in the world, who share a bond of not becoming mothers, in their life journeys. We will also discuss current challenges and opportunities for women and our collective community to come together in new ways, inclusive of all the ways we have experienced this life path, and why this matters now.

New Legacy Radio

Tuesday at 10 AM Pacific Time on VoiceAmerica Variety Channel

New Legacy Radio (NLR) is a social justice platform that amplifies the experiences, perspectives, and contributions of people without children. The show also navigates the multigenerational and intergenerational impact of social and systemic discrimination based on personal reproductive and relationship experiences. In conversation with diverse guests, who have lived experience, and allies, we discuss how these constructs relate to basic human rights, the natural world, global priorities, transnational relationships, and beyond. NLR is brought to you by New Legacy Institute (NLI), the first global policy institute to advocate for the rights of people who do not have children and policy without pronatalism. New Legacy Radio airs live on the VoiceAmerica Variety Channel every Tuesday at 10 AM Pacific Time. Listen live and on-demand: https://www.voiceamerica.com/show/4062
