Episode Description
The Feast of St. Agatha is the most important religious festival in the city of Catania in Sicily. The event is held every year between February 3rd and 5th, and again on August 17. Between three to six thousand people arrive in Catania for the festival and during the course of the year, its history attracts up to almost one million devotees from Italy and abroad. On August 17th of 2009, Astor Morgan created a body of work during the festival, working in crowded and at times dangerous conditions. The program explores his experiences in developing a portfolio of images that clearly demonstrate the passion and raw emotion of the people attending. It also delves into the photographer’ mind in finding how the drive to create such imagery can evoke such passion from an art form.
