Gavin opens with Wall Street veteran James Awad, Chairman of Plimsoll Mark Capital, a division of Zephyr Management for a look at China, perhaps the most confusing emerging market country. Then he examines another confusing country and talks to Fernando Donayre at Inca Investments in Miami about Mexico. He calls on Montasser Khelifi of Quantum Investment Bank in Dubai about the MCSI decision on Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. These countries are under consideration for upgrade from frontier to emerging market status with a decision expected on Tuesday. Then he checks in with economics professor and United Nations Commission Member Atif Kubursi in Vienna, en route back from Egypt on what it needs to become attractive. He finishes with European Correspondent Mario Marcinek in Bratislava Slovakia and an examination of reports suggesting that the recession is almost over in the developed countries there. Gavin Graham has managed money for some of the largest banks and fund management companies in the world over the last thirty years and has worked in London, Hong Kong, San Francisco and Toronto. Having started in the City of London (the UK’s financial core) in 1979, he moved to Hong Kong in 1988, where his roles included that of Senior Investment Officer of Citigroup Global Asset Management (Asia) and Chief investment Officer for Connaught Investments Ltd. After moving to Toronto in 1999, he was Senior Investment Officer for Guardian Group of Funds in Toronto and latterly Director of Investments for Bank of Montreal Asset Management until 2010. He is now president of Graham investment Strategy Ltd and a frequent guest on Canada's Business News Network, the CBC and Toronto’s CP24, and quoted by the Canadian Press, Reuters and Bloomberg. Along with program producer Al Emid, Gavin is co-author of Investing in Frontier Markets: Opportunity Risk and Role in an Investment Portfolio, and of another upcoming book on frontier markets investing.
