Claudia Raaen
Claudia Raaen is a multi-facetted artist with a passion for the Sacred Arts. She is currently practicing and sharing the teachings from her book The Art of Sacred Gardening, as well as playing sacred music and teaching West African drumming and dance. She is also involved in the creation of a democratic education centre on Cortes Island that focuses on self-initiated, child led, and community based learning. Claudia graduated from St. Olaf College with a BA and major in art. She developed a career in photography traveling the world and working for the sustainable agriculture movement in the Philippines and California. She moved to Cortes Island in 1989 to study organic gardening at Linnaea Farm and Hollyhock Farm. She has been creating magical gardens continuously ever since. At the same time she has trained and become a certified instructor of Breema® Bodywork and the Nine Principles of Harmony from the Breema Center in Oakland, CA. She has also been training with the masters in West African drumming and plays and teaches regularly.
