Carol Kivler
Carol Kivler is a passionate consumer advocate, speaker, author and founder of Courageous Recovery. She speaks to consumers, their loved ones and healthcare professionals to raise awareness, instill hope and combat stigmas surrounding mental health diagnoses and treatments. Carol shares her journey of recovery from four bouts of medication-resistant depression and her positive experience with the life-saving treatment ECT. In addition to her book, The ABCs of Recovery from Mental Illness, Carol is also the author of Will I Ever Be the Same Again? Transforming the Face of ECT (Shock Therapy). Carol is the founder and president of Kivler Communications, a corporate training and international executive coaching firm. Carol is a member of the Board of Directors of NAMI Mercer NJ and an In Our Own Voice presenter. She is a member of the National Speakers Association and the Consumer Advisory Board of the APNA. In addition, Carol writes a weekly blog for Esperanza Magazine.
