Claire Bidwell Smith
Claire Bidwell Smith lives in Los Angeles. She is a psychotherapist specializing in grief, and the author of the memoir The Rules of Inheritance (Penguin 2012), soon to be a major motion picture starring Jennifer Lawrence. Claire received a BA in creative writing from The New School and a MA in clinical psychology from Antioch University. She has written for many publications including The Huffington Post, Salon.com, Slate, BlackBook Magazine and Chicago Public Radio. Her background includes travel and food writing, working for nonprofits like Dave Eggers’ literacy center 826LA, and bereavement counseling for hospice. Claire is available for one on one therapy for issues related to grief and will be co-facilitating a Transformational Grief Retreat in Ojai, California January 24-26, 2014. She is currently working on her second book.
