Cari Caruso
Following 16 years as a RN, Cari Caruso began conducting sexual assault exams in 1990 & later became a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) at the time the specialty was developed. She worked for the LA County Sexual Assault Center as well as the Sexual Assault Programs at both California and Mission Community Hospitals. After developing & directing the SANE program at San Gabriel Valley Medical Center, she left to launch Forensic Nurse Professionals, Inc. in 2003. Since 2005, Cari has taught on-line forensic nursing courses for UC Riverside Extension & was the recipient of the 2012 Instructor Excellence Award. She has consulted & served as an expert for civil & criminal sexual assault cases for both prosecution & defense. Cari is a Charter Member of the International Assoc of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) and is a Founding Member and Treasurer of its Southern CA Chapter. Cari provides training to law enforcement, attorneys, medical professionals, and others, upon request.
