Geraldine Plato

Geraldine Plato, HHC, AADP, is a health advocate and journalist by training and a mother, educator, and creative community builder by vocation. After a twenty-five-year career in executive level, non-profit management in arts and education Geraldine was inspired to begin private consulting in two areas: As a health advocate coaching individuals to create nourishing lifestyles and as a strategist collaborating with groups to make their communities richer places. She is a co-founder of Possibilities of Wellbeing, a resource center that promotes wellbeing through whole food nutrition, integrative medicine, and health education. A resident of Penland, North Carolina, she and her husband, furniture maker John Clark, have three daughters all of whom have chosen careers in the creative class. Geraldine received her education at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in Manhattan and is a board certified health coach through the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. She has a BSJ in magazine journalism from Ohio University. She currently serves on the boards of: The Center for Craft, Creativity and Design, and chairs the Penland Post Office Historic Restoration Project. Additional past board service includes: The Blue Ridge National Heritage Area, The EnergyXchange, the Blue Ridge Regional Hospital Foundation, DigIn! Community Garden, The Blue Ridge Sustainability Institute, and she chaired the Mitchell County affiliate board of the Community Foundation of WNC.
