Dr. Deborah Heiser
Deborah Heiser has a PhD in Applied Developmental Psychology, and is an aging specialist. She is trained in guardianship, has served as a legal guardian, has conducted empirical research, published scholarly articles and book chapters, and has co-edited a book entitled Spiritual Assessment and Intervention with Older Adults: Current Directions and Applications. Her publications, grant awards and presentations focus on geriatric topics and include depression, palliative care, elder abuse, and spirituality. Dr. Heiser has also practiced clinically, focusing on group support and bereavement. She specialized in older adults. She is active in the field of aging, serving as President of the State Society on Aging of New York in 2008. She has served on its board for more than 10 years. Dr. Heiser brings her knowledge of the lifespan and passion for life to her work with older adults and their families.
