Robert Butera, M.Div., Ph.D.
Robert Butera, M.Div., Ph.D., director of The YogaLife Institute in Devon, Pennsylvania trains Yoga and Meditation Teachers and Yoga Therapists. He publishes the holistic magazine “Yoga Living” in the Philadelphia Area. His Ph.D. in Yoga from The Ca. Institute of Integral Studies (1998) and training at The Yoga Institute, Mumbai, India (1989) certified him as a Yoga therapist. He also serves on the International Association of Yoga Therapist’s Board of Directors.
His books include Classical Yoga Study Guide (Self Published, 2001), The Pure Heart of Yoga, 10 Steps to Transformation (Llewellyn 2009) and, Meditation for Your Life: Creating a Plan That Suits Your Style, (Llewellyn, 2012). He directs Comprehensive Yoga Therapy training and in 2011 was elected to the Board of Directors of the International Association of Yoga Therapists.
Certified by The Yoga Institute, Bombay, India, where he lived for six months in 1989, Bob aims at bringing a non-sectarian form of Classical Yoga tailored for the householder. His Ph.D. dissertation for The California Institute of Integral Studies (1998) concerned a Yoga healing program for the immune system. Bob has a Masters of Divinity from The Earlham School of Religion (Quaker) and has lived in and studied meditation and personal growth in Japan, Taiwan, India and the United States.
Emphasizing education in his courses, Bob teaches clients how to understand their needs and then, how to apply yoga practices individually.
