Susan Bernard
Susan Bernard is the author of Marilyn: Intimate Exposures and six previous books, including the bestselling Bernard of Hollywood’s Ultimate Pin-Up Book (TASCHEN 2003) and her work has been translated throughout the world.
In October 2012, Ralph Lauren hosted a gala for the launch of the French edition for her book on the opening night of Parcours Saint Germaine. She also attended the Cannes Film Festival where she signed and read from her book at the historical Librarie Private De Sorbonne at the Palais; there was also a photo exhibition mounted at the Hotel Carlton. The book received six pages in the distinguished French magazine Paris Match, and dozens of other publications and on-camera interviews followed.
Susan travelled to London during the first week of the Olympics, for the U.K. launch of Marilyn: Intimate Exposures at Proud Galleries. Her world tour will continue well into 2015 with exhibitions and readings in China, Israel, and Russia. Her book will be the first on Marilyn to be published in China in August of 2015, where Susan will be traveling to Beijing to promote it.
She commemorated the 50th anniversary of Marilyn's passing with an exhibition at the San Francisco Art Exchange Gallery, in the city where her father escaped to, alone and penniless, from Nazi Germany in 1937. He did his post-graduate work in criminal law at University of California, Berkeley. 2012 would have been his 100th birthday. A resident of Los Angeles’ Hancock Park, Susan is an active member of PEN Center USA, and Childhelp USA and in the midst of her book tour, is currently working on a memoir and an untitled feature film.
