Paul H. Irving is chairman of the Milken Institute Center for the Future of Aging and distinguished scholar in residence at the University of Southern California Davis School of Gerontology. Irving, who previously served as the Institute’s president, is a nationally recognized thought leader in the field and has led the Institute’s work promoting healthy, productive and purposeful aging. He is the author of “The Upside of Aging: How Long Life Is Changing the World of Health, Work, Innovation, Policy, and Purpose” (Wiley, 2014), and his work is regularly featured in major media outlets. Under Irving, the Institute launched its “Best Cities for Successful Aging” initiative — a report, index and data site that evaluates and ranks U.S. metropolitan areas based on amenities, infrastructure and opportunities for engagement for older adults. In 2014, he was honored with the Janet L. Witkin Award by Affordable Living for the Aging.
