Cheryl Zauderer
Cheryl Zauderer, PhD, CNM, NPP, IBCLC’s has worked as a labor and delivery nurse in hospitals and birthing centers, a nurse-midwife is an inner city hospital, an OB/GYN nurse practitioner, and as a Lamaze instructor. As a result of her work with postpartum mothers, during which she encountered several with anxiety and depression due to difficult birth experiences, Dr. Zauderer decided to pursue a psychiatric nurse practitioner degree. A doctorate in psychotherapy skills follows, so she could help these women recover and enjoy their babies and families. A private practice psychotherapist and tenured assistant professor in the department of nursing at the New York Institute of Technology, Dr. Zauderer is the author of several articles about maternal newborn health and psychiatric mental health. A researcher in postpartum/perinatal mood disorders and skin-to-skin contact, Cheryl has served on the board of Postpartum Support International and blogs at www.postpartumcare1.com
