Anna Amato
Dr. Anna Amato has more than 30 years of service in the fields of education, youth services and business. She has been a teacher, social worker, program director, trainer, quality assurance manager and one of the lead educators on Detroit’s historical school empowerment initiative in the early 90’s.
In 1994, Dr. Amato founded edtec central to help local community-based educators, entrepreneurs and organizations design and launch schools of choice and public charter schools. Over the years, she has consulted locally, regionally and nationally on education reform and school transformation. Currently, edtec directly operates two specialized strict discipline academies and one alternative high school in Michigan and provides support and consulting services to several local charter schools, as well as to other community and social service agencies including Spectrum Human Services, Detroit Behavioral Institute and Lakeside for Children.
