Karen Bishko
Karen Bishko worked as a portrait painter until 2005. Around this time Graham Gouldman of the British Band,”10cc” heard some songs she had written and encouraged her to record her first album “Singles for Singles.” At the time, her manager Paul Burger, ex President of Sony Records Europe, encouraged her to turn her storytelling and theatrical songs into a musical, which became the source for her Musical Singles.
Karens show recently hosted a concert of songs from the show that were performed by Broadway Stars in June 2014 at 54 Below in New York. A screenplay version of the stage play, developed with writer Nat Bennett, is also under development with Director Tom Vaughan. Karen is currently living in New York and was recently commissioned to write songs for a new musical “Shadows” directed and co-created by the award winning choreographer Joey McKneely.
