Helen Walbey


Helen grew up in a small hotel on the South coast and got a taste for enterprise from an early age. After moving to Wales to attend university she took a variety of roles before becoming a trouble shooter for a large multinational company. Sixteen years and four businesses later she is now the only woman in the UK who runs her own motorcycles salvage scrap yard, exports her parts worldwide.
She supports and encourages trainees, apprentices and young people on work experience, at her industrial unit in the South Wales valleys. She is a role model with the Welsh Government. After taking a degree while running her business, she is now undertaking a PhD on supporting more women into business and lectures at the University of South Wales Business School. In December 2015 she took up the national role of Diversity Portfolio Chair for the Federation of Small Businesses and has recently launched a report into Women in Enterprise – The Untapped Potential. She speaks at conferences & on TV.
