What I want more than anything else is peace. For as long as I can remember, before I make a wish -- while blowing out candles on a birthday cake or throwing coins in a fountain -- I “hear” three words as soon as I close my eyes: Peace. On. Earth.
Yet my personal and professional life has been filled with turmoil and drama.
Court reporters must maintain their composure at all times and detach from the emotion, politics and drama of lawyers and witnesses at a deposition or trial, while simultaneously detaching from their own internal reactions to the intensity.
After almost a lifetime of struggling with self-acceptance and self-love, adapting this profound process changed my life. It has helped me to quiet the negative voices inside my head and respond to the inevitable stress and anxiety inherent in our fast-paced world calmly. I finally understand that living a life in harmony with others is only possible when I am at peace with myself.
