Tom Laux
Tom Laux is a Medical Student Design Partner (MSDP) at the Penn State College of Medicine University Park. He attended Swarthmore College and graduated in 2014 with a BA in Psychology and Cognitive Science. While there, he spent a semester studying comparative public health in India, China, and South Africa, focusing on traditional and integrative medicine. Tom spent time in 2013 working as a Mental Health Program Intern at the Carter Center in Atlanta and in 2014 as a research assistant with the Center for Family Intervention Sciences, working with adolescents suffering from suicidal ideation and severe depression. After graduation, Tom moved to Madaba, Jordan and spent two years teaching sophomore chemistry and AP Psychology at King’s Academy international boarding school. Now an MSDP in State College, PA, Tom is meshing his dual passions of medicine and education in an effort to bring more calmness, collaboration and joy into the field of undergraduate medical education.
