John Donald
John is Associate Professor & Graduate Attributes Coordinator, School of Engineering, University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada and holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Waterloo. In 2016 John was named the president-elect of the Canadian Engineering Educators Association (CEEA). John teaches courses in engineering leadership and engineering design and is actively involved in the engineering accreditation process. John’s academic interests focus on engineering leadership, teaching and learning in engineering, and the contribution of humanities and social sciences to the engineering curriculum. Prior to joining Guelph in 2013, John worked in both the private sector and academia, including 7 years in engineering consulting, 3 years in IT startup companies, and 10 years in Canadian college leadership positions, including Dean of Engineering & Information Technology, and Vice Presidential roles in international education, continuing education and community development.
