My latest book, Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents, answers the question: why are so many psychotherapy clients so much more self-aware than their family members? Realizing that these family members were highly emotionally immature, I set out to explore and explain their destructive interactions. By understanding our loved ones’ emotional immaturity, we can regain our trust in ourselves and get free from destructive effects of early childhood programming. In my previous book, Who You Were Meant To Be, I focused on how people can reconnect with their true self. This book helps people learn how to rely on their own emotional guidance, strengthen their self-awareness, and increase their energy for full living. After obtaining two graduate degrees in clinical psychology, I became a licensed clinical psychologist. For many years I taught classes of doctoral students as an adjunct assistant professor.
