Deborah L. Matthias-Anderson, PhD, RN, CNE
Dr. Mathias-Anderson has been a nurse for over thirty years and a nurse educator for 24 years. She currently teaches in several different programs in the Department of Nursing and Health Sciences at Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, MN. Her nursing specialty area is psychiatric-mental health nursing. Her research interest is substance use disorders among nurses. Her doctoral research was on the work re-entry processes of nurses who had completed substance use disorder treatment. She serves as secretary of the Board of Directors of the Minnesota Nurses Peer Support Network (NPSN), the statewide nonprofit nursing organization dedicated to supporting nurses in recovery from substance use disorders. She also serves as chair of the NPSN Education/Outreach Committee, whose mission is to provide education about substance use disorders to nurses and the public.
