Dr. Stacy Scott
Dr. Stacy Scott founded the Global Infant Safe Sleep (GISS) Center in 2016 to reduce Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) and combat infant mortality. With more than 30 years’ experience in the areas of health disparities, prevention, and delivery of services, she serves as a national health advocate and consultant.
GISS’ current “Changing a Tradition, Changing a Position” campaign shares safe sleep practices with grandparents and other non-parent caregivers. Nearly 1,000 people have been trained and nearly 500 cribs distributed to families in need.
Dr. Scott served as a project coordinator for the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development’s “Reducing the Risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) in African American Communities” outreach and organized the Fatherhood “Safe to Sleep” Campaign kickoff with Tennessee State University. She serves as Ohio’s “ABC of Safe Sleep” campaign spokesperson and works with Baby1st Network as Program Manager
