Daniel Baxter MD


Daniel Baxter MD is the clinical coordinator at the William F. Ryan Community Health Center in New York City and acclaimed author of The Least of These My Brethren: A Doctor’s Story of Hope and Miracles on an Inner-City AIDS Ward. A board-certified internist, he worked for ten years at the Spellman Center for HIV-Related Diseases in New York before moving to Botswana to provide direct patient care under the aegis of the African Comprehensive HIV/AIDS Partnership for eight and a half years. In 2013, he returned to Botswana for two years to lecture at the country’s new medical school.
Raised in Wilmington, Ohio (just outside of Cincinnati), Dr. Baxter graduated from the Ohio State University College of Arts & Sciences in 1971 with a degree in Chemistry. He went on to graduate in 1975 from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and was part of the Botswana-Penn program when he first went to Botswana.
