Patrick Gilligan
Patrick Lawrence Gilligan has woven a beautifully written novel that incorporates his own experiences in racing, history lessons of the sport and travels with his wife as they traverse the country in support of their son Jack during his apprenticeship in North America. Patrick’s life began in Mount Vernon, N.Y. and as a young boy moved with his mother to England. He was eventually drawn to the world of horses and went from jumping ponies to the lessons to be learned from riding thoroughbreds. The book shows how his career and his son’s have dovetailed over the years. He and his wife Vicky made the decision to travel with Jack as he went to competition in the Midwest. It is a wonderful tour of the people they met and places Jack rode while cutting out his career in the book titled “Around Kentucky with the Bug!”
