Dr. Dimitar Ouzounov
Dr. Ouzounov is Associate Professor in Geophysics at the Chapman University, Orange, CA and his research is in pre-earthquake phenomena, Earth’s lithosphere-atmosphere coupling, and short-term earthquake warnings using space technology. He spent a decade as researcher at NASA Godard Space Flight Center, where he developed concepts for studying thermal transient radiation in space atmosphere in relation to pre-earthquakes. Dimitar became a guest-investigator for the French DEMETER (2004-10) and currently for the new Chinese/Italian CSES (2018) satellite missions dedicated to study the Earth electromagnetic environment associated with earthquakes and volcanoes. He is a member of geophysical societies and coordinates various international initiatives on utilizing space-borne observations for earthquake hazard mitigation. Dimitar holds a PhD in Geophysics from Schmidt Institute of Physics of the Earth, Russia and M.Sc in Applied Geophysics of University of Mining in Geology, Bulgaria
