Sue Barnes is now working as an independent clinical consultant, after retiring in October of 2016 as the National Program Leader for Infection Prevention and Control for Kaiser Permanente’s 8 regions, 38 hospitals and 630 medical offices. She is Board certified in Infection Control and Prevention, and was granted the designation of Fellow of APIC in 2015 (FAPIC).She has been in the field of Infection Prevention since 1989.She has participated in development of the following APIC Guides to Elimination of CRBSI, the Elimination of Infections in Hemodialysis, Safe Injection Practices Position Paper and Training Program for Infection Prevention in Ambulatory Care. She is a subject matter expert consultant and speaker for organizations including AORN and APIC Presentation topics have included SSI (surgical site infection) prevention,C.difficile prevention, IP Mentoring, Scope reprocessing, Hand Hygiene, Vascular Access, CLABSI (central line associated bloodstream infection) prevention).
