Carol Wagner
Dr. Carol Wagner attended Brown University and received her A.B. degree in Human Biology and her MD degree from Boston University School of Medicine in 1986. She came to the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in 1992 after completing both her Pediatrics residency and Neonatal-Perinatal fellowship at the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY. She is board-certified in both Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. She was promoted to Professor of Pediatrics in 2006, and was named Associate Director of MUSC’s Nexus Research Center in January, 2006. Her areas of interest include: human milk and lactation; vitamin D requirements during pregnancy, lactation and early childhood; neonatal nutrition; preterm infant gut maturation; and the trophic effects of breast milk. She has over 130 publications in peer-reviewed journals and has been the principal or co-investigator on numerous NIH and foundation grants.
