Sarah Edmondson
Sarah is a wife, mother an actress and a past member of a cult called NXIVM. She had been a successful recruiter for the group for 10 years. Then in - she thought she was having a tattoo as part of a ritual to join a secret society within the organisation but instead she was brandished with a cauterising iron in her pubic area with the initials of the cult leader. Sarah told the police in New York and went public with the sorority’s perverse practice of branding its initiates. Now the leader has been found guilty and awaiting sentencing in prison on a number of charges along with a several of other prominent women involved. Since then Sarah has written a book entitled, Scarred: The True Story of How I Escaped NXIVM: The Cult that Bound My Life. The book is about her experience of being in and subsequently leaving the cult. Sarah has been on A&E, and she has made a six part podcast about her experience, and she and her husband are now slated to headline a documentary TV series.
