Linda E. May
Dr. Linda E. May is a tenured associate professor at East Carolina University where she teaches dental students. She is adjunct assistant professor of exercise physiology for Health and Human Performance as well as obstetrics and gynecology for the Brody School of Medicine. She conducts research related to the influence of maternal exercise during pregnancy on child development before and after birth. Her research is presented worldwide, including through media such as the New York Times and Good Morning America. Dr. May published her book, Physiology of Prenatal Exercise and Fetal Development in 2012, and won the 2017 East Carolina University Health Sciences Author Award. Having taught for over 15 years, she now primarily studies the influence of exercise during pregnancy on offspring outcomes- fetal, neonatal, and child. Dr May is author or co-author of 45 published papers, has presented at 16 conferences, and holds editorial appointments for multiple professional journals.
