Yasin Kakande
Yasin Kakande is an International journalist, migrant activist TED Fellow and author of a new book on the historical and contemporary reasons for African immigration, Why We Are Coming. As a migrant from Uganda, first in the Middle East and now in the U.S., Kakande strives to fill in a migrant’s voice in the ongoing global debate over refugees and migrants. His previous two books The Ambitious Struggle (2013) and Slave States (2015) chronicled the abuses and exploitation of migrants, who work in the Middle East.
