Laurence Overmire
Laurence Overmire has had a multi-faceted career as poet, author, actor, director, educator and genealogist. Scottish historian Ted Cowan calls him “a true sennachie, a genealogist as well as a bard.” The sennachies of ancient Celtic tradition were voices of conscience, who knew the legends, the history and the ancestral lineages. They united the people in story and song, arguing for justice and illuminating the difference between right and wrong. Overmire is a modern-day inheritor of that ancient tradition and his work represents a call to conscience and a call to action. He is an advocate for a healthy, just and peaceful world. His poetry has been widely published in the U.S. and abroad. As a genealogist, he has helped hundreds of thousands of people connect with their family roots. As an actor, he has performed on Broadway, film and television. He has been teaching arts programs in the schools and other venues for over twenty years. Learn more at laurenceovermire.com.
