Evelyn Champagne King
Evelyn "Champagne" King (born July 1, 1960) is an American singer. She went on to become one of the most popular R&B and disco singers of the late seventies and early eighties. She is best known for her first world wide single “Shame". Born in the Bronx and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, King was discovered while working as an office cleaner at "Philadelphia International Records." Of King's many R&B and pop hits, she is best known for the disco classic "Shame" Evelyn Champagne King has enjoyed her success over the past 25 years. Her name demands respect within the industry, one that has remained prominent in the R&B, Club and Pop arenas. Rolling out of the 70's into the 80's with the ground breaking single "I Don't Know If It's Right" followed by a number 1 hit single "Love Come Down", and "I'm In Love" Evelyn's touring has not stopped. Sinbad's Soul Music Fest Part III on (HBO) recently experienced a spark from Evelyn and her band that continues to shine.
