Kim A. Snyder
A brave filmmaker known for taking on emotionally-wrought films, Kim A. Snyder directed the Peabody award-winning documentary Newtown (2016). This powerful film, capturing the lives of those most affected by the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in 2012, was listed as the most widely watched documentary of the past decade. A co-founder of the BeCause Foundation, which produces socially conscious short documentaries, Snyder’s films also include I Remember Me (2000), Welcome to Shelbyville (2011) and Lessons from a School Shooting: Notes from Dunblane (2018). Building on career advocating for social change through film, Snyder released Us Kids (Mountainfilm 2020), a coming-of-age story that gives voice to the building youth movement to end gun violence.
