Major General Suzanne P. Vares-Lum

Major General Suzanne P. Vares-Lum is the Mobilization Assistant to the Commander, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command at Camp H. M. Smith, Hawaii. She commissioned as a Distinguished Military Graduate in the Military Intelligence Corps on May 15, 1988 through the Army ROTC program at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Major General Vares-Lum received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism in 1989, a Master of Education in Teaching in 1996 from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and a Master of Strategic Studies degree in 2011 from the U.S. Army War College. Her awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Iraqi Campaign Medal. She is also a 2017 recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
