Lucas Guilkey
Lucas Guilkey is a documentary filmmaker, journalist, and 2021 SFFILM FilmHouse resident. His directorial debut, What Happened to Dujuan Armstrong?, follows the coverup of a young man's death in county jail and his mother's fight for truth and justice. It won best documentary at the BAFTA student film awards, was nominated for a SIMA award, and has screened in film festivals across the country. He is currently producing and directing a feature documentary about the rise and fall of long-term solitary confinement in California prisons with JoeBill Muñoz, as well as working as an associate producer at Malka Films. Previously, he served as assistant editor on four feature documentaries and as a producer of short news videos for AJ+ and Fusion. He is a graduate of the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism and Wesleyan University.
