Edwin Weaver
Edwin Weaver is the Executive Director of Fighting Back Santa Maria Valley(FBSMV), a nonprofit. Edwin serves as the co-chair of the Governor’s Children’s Justice Act Task Force for the State of California. His community engagement includes leadership of the Santa Maria School Attendance Review Board, a member of the SB Human Trafficking Task Force, the Mayors Task Force on Youth Safety, and the Santa Barbara County Continuum of Care to address homelessness. FBSMV was selected by State Assemblyman Jordan Cunningham as the non-profit of the year for the 35th District 2017. Edwin was also selected by the Santa Barbara Foundation as emerging leader for Northern Santa Barbara County in 2019. Edwin earned a Master’s in Social Welfare from UCLA and a Master of Theology and is currently in a Masters of Dispute Resolution Program at Pepperdine’s Caruso School of Law. Edwin is a Community Resilience Model (CRM) Teacher for the Trauma Resource Institute where he serves as a senior faculty. Edwin has been instrumental in bringing the Community Resiliency Model to Santa Barbara County for the last six years. He has trained Mental Health Professionals for the County Mental Health Department, School District’s staff and teachers, Probation Department, Nurses, and clergy in the community as well as parents and children.
