Darius Blasband
Darius Blasband is CEO and Founder of Raincode, a Brussels-based technology company that develops and delivers compilers for legacy languages, including tools to support mainframe to cloud native software migrations. Darius is a trailblazer in the world of compilers, since having built Raincode from the ground up in 1999. Darius holds a Master’s degree and a PhD from the Université Libre de Bruxelles and more importantly, has a fantastic sense of humor. He maintains an immense amount of experience designing and developing programming languages and compilers, and has even invented his own programming language for compiler development called YAFL. Darius is the author of “The Rise and Fall of Software Recipes”. His book challenges many accepted norms in the field of software development, taking a deep dive into the roots of many issues that are posed to software development teams today. Darius is not only a master in the art of programming languages, but also in modern languages, boasting fluency in English, French, Farsi, and Dutch. He is also an acclaimed speaker in academic and industrial circles and is never afraid to challenge common wisdom which he deems appropriate to be questioned.
