Dan Shapiro, PhD
Dr. Shapiro has been treating physicians experiencing burnout for more than twenty years. He currently serves as vice dean for faculty and administrative affairs at Penn State College of Medicine and has developed a systematized approach for addressing the causes of burnout on both an institutional and personal level. His memoir about one physician’s burnout and redemption, “Delivering Doctor Amelia,” became the go-to source on the subject in colleges and medical schools. He is also the co-author with his wife of "And in Health: A Guide for Couples Facing Cancer Together," which combines psychological science, humor, and the wisdom of experience to help ordinary couples navigate cancer as effectively as possible.
