Dr. Yvonne Vissing
Dr. Yvonne Vissing, a pediatric and community sociologist and children’s human rights expert, is the author of 13+ books. She is the US policy chair for the Hope for Children UN Convention on the Rights of the Child Policy Center in Cyprus, a National Institute of Mental Health Post-Doctoral Research Fellow, and a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science Human Rights Council and Steering Committee of Human Rights Educators USA. She is a fellow at UCONN on human rights education as buffer to extremism, a Whiting Foundation fellow studying child rights in EU/UK, a Guardian ad Litem, Mediator, former National Coalition for the Homeless and a state Juvenile Parole Board member, organizational consultant, parent, and a farmer. Dr. Vissing works with US international research communities. She is Professor of Healthcare Studies and founding director of the Center for Childhood Youth Studies at Salem State University in MA. Dr. Vissing was awarded the 2021 Distinguished Career in Child Studies from the American Sociological Association.
