Jamie Gamboa, PsyD
She/Her Dr. Gamboa’s focus is on helping individuals recognize stories that may have helped them survive difficult times, but that may no longer serve them. These old stories often take the form of reactions that feel like they are being made on autopilot. Noticing and naming autopilot reactions as they are unfolding can give us the freedom to make different choices and write new stories. Dr. Gamboa is a multi-culturally informed, sex-positive, LGBTQIA+-affirming, kink-affirming, and non-monogamy/polyamory affirming clinician at Framework Psychological Associates. She specializes in working with neurodiversity, trauma, and creative individuals. In addition to providing individual and couples therapy, she is the lead clinician for Framework’s group program. She runs several therapy groups including a mindfulness-based cognitive therapy group for anxiety and depression, a psychoeducational group for ADHD, and an LGBTQIA+ Support Group. Previously, Dr. Gamboa worked for five years as a supervisor and crisis counselor at Didi Hirsch’s suicide hotline, where she had the honor of being entrusted with a great many stories. Sometime after that, she lost a dear friend to suicide. Her professional and personal experiences have taught her that the meaning we create from our experiences can help us move forward, even in the wake of suicide and suicide loss.
