Barry Williams
Hailing from New Hampshire, Barry Williams grew up in the outdoors and has hiked most of the White Mountains and Presidential range, in addition to various walkabouts around the US. Before Hiking My Feelings was a thing, Barry was a professional skydiver for more than 16 years. He didn’t do tandem skydives, he taught people how to skydive by themselves - a feat that requires deep trust, clear communication, and compassionate instruction. Combining a degree in psychology from the University of New Hampshire, his experience as an educator and his training as a Wilderness EMT, Barry is uniquely equipped to lead hikes, facilitate educational programming, and ensure everyone’s safety in the outdoors at Hiking My Feelings events. His leadership and teaching style is more Mister Miyagi than drill sergeant. Barry’s special sauce is in how he shows his support. Without his grounding presence, nothing you see here today would be possible. The safe space he created in his partnership with Sydney allowed her to explore how trauma manifested in her mind and body and how the outdoors could help her heal. Without his support, without that safe space to show up without our masks, our work would not be possible.
