Jennie Taylor

Jennie Taylor

Jennie Taylor is a Utah native with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from BYU and a Master of Education from Utah State. She never expected to settle down in her hometown of North Ogden, and no one was more surprised than she was when she ended up married to the mayor. After serving four years on the City Council and five years as mayor, Jennie’s husband, Major Brent Taylor, was killed in Afghanistan in 2018. In a quick moment it seemed the world flipped inside out and upside down for Jennie and her seven young children. Jennie now serves as Utah's Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army and is an adjunt professor at Utah State University. She has found herself with unforeseen opportunities to stand up and speak out about the price of freedom, the value of community service, and the importance of putting one foot in front of the other—even when it seems that baby steps are all you can take.
