Kate Sachs Leventhal

Kate Sachs Leventhal serves as WorldBeing’s Chief Program Officer, overseeing all projects, including research and programs, for the organization. Throughout her time at WorldBeing, Kate has led and collaborated on the design, adaptation, implementation, evaluation, and scale-up of multiple resilience-based curricula for youth, women, and young parents, including Girls First, Youth First India, Youth First Kenya, and the Self-Help Group Resilience Project. Kate has brought together diverse teams of experts in resilience, global health, and community development to create, test, and roll out holistic curricula. She has additionally overseen the development and piloting of some of the first resilience-based measurement packages in use in any developing country setting during these projects. Kate has authored a number of peer-reviewed publications regarding these programs and related studies, published in journals such as Social Science and Medicine, Journal of Adolescence, and BMC Trials. Kate joined WorldBeing in 2011 after working with BasicNeeds Kenya and Caritas Nyeri, Kenya, on community mental health programming. Kate graduated from Harvard University with a BA in Social Anthropology with a focus on mental health and international development. She received a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Counseling and Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley, and is pursuing a PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Edinburgh, UK.
