The vision for Sozo Children is "All children thriving. All communities transformed." Suzanne Owens, CEO of Sozo Children answered the call in 2010 to start this ministry to offer wholeness of mind, body and spirit to severely neglected children in Uganda, Africa. When two missionaries discovered a group of children in dire need of care, they took action. With help from local Ugandan leaders, the original 17 Sozo Children were provided with a roof over their heads, clean clothes, and hope for the future. Suzanne and her team believe every child entrusted to them is uniquely created by God and deserves an opportunity to thrive. Sozo Children has grown to care for more than 150 boys and girls. The ministry now provides a comprehensive continuum of care consisting of proper nutrition, healthcare, quality education, spiritual development, and life skills to build strong leaders for Christ who will have a positive impact on the next generation of Ugandan society. Sozo Children’s efforts in each of these life altering areas has led to a very strong partnership with the Ugandan Ministry of Gender, similar to the Department of Human Relations in the US, which considers Sozo Children a model for children’s homes in Uganda. Equipped with the best education, healthcare, and nutrition, Sozo children are given the tools they need to flourish in life, creating a better future for the communities they will serve.
