Jake Lukas
Jake Lukas, the Chief Executive of Novalis Trust and a seasoned social worker, embarked on his career in care in 1993. His early experiences involved residing with and supporting children with additional needs, taking a significant responsibility for overseeing life story work for children in care. Jake innovatively introduced a weekly "time in" approach fostering a collaborative space for both children and staff to engage in meaningful discussions. Recognizing the importance of a holistic approach, Jake established a clinical therapy team at Novalis Trust, emphasizing the organization's commitment to continuous training and professional development. Jake's visionary leadership led to the formulation of the Novalis Model, a distinctive approach that centers around promoting positive relational health through an attachment-focused, trauma-responsive lens. Drawing inspiration from Dr. Sandra Bloom and her influential work, Jake embraced a trauma-informed, trauma-responsive methodology in 2012. This approach has been integral in ensuring a compassionate and effective support system for relationally sensitive children and adults. Jake actively engages in delivering training sessions, connecting with children and their families, and collaborating with esteemed academics and practitioners. His dedication to advocating for a trauma-informed approach underscores his commitment to providing impactful and sensitive care, making a lasting difference in the lives of those he serves.
