Dr. Shila Patel
Dr. Shila Patel was born in Kenya, went to Zambia where she completed high school. Next to the United Kingdom to pursue higher education. After completing her medical school in St. Andrews, Scotland and Manchester, England she came to live in America at the age of 26 years. After completing her 5-year training in adult and child psychiatry in Augusta, Georgia, she had a private practice in Valdosta, Georgia. She was a licensed, practicing psychiatrist for over 25 years working with children and adults. She chose to retire at the age of 51 years. During the pandemic, with the increased incidence of mental health issues, Dr. Patel decided to write 3 books as she felt it was imperative for all Americans to recognize problems, take responsibility for healing themselves and change the destiny for future generations. Because of her training, she hoped to provide guidance about healthy relationships and parenting issues and is passionate about leaving behind a positive legacy at the end of life.
